While blueberries are not yet in season around here, I am counting the milliseconds till I can go here and Pick my Own. Until then, I will have to be content getting pints at the grocery store or buying frozen blueberries making this Tuesdays with Dorie treat.
Although described in Baking as a blueberry brown-sugar plain cake, to me it tasted like a wonderful breakfast muffin. I liked how the brown-sugar gave this a unique flavor and the fresh blueberries added just enough anti-oxidants to qualify it as a healthy snack for my kids. I think it was pretty with a quick sprinkle of confectioners sugar but it was equally nice plain eaten out of hand. Thanks to Cindy of Everyday Insanity for a great, "I will make again" sort of pick. (I continually find it ironic that we are nearing the end of the book, yet all the treats continue to be amazing.) I look forward to seeing the blog rolls to read how my fellow bakers reacted to this one.

So pretty with the powdered sugar dusting...
Your cake looks lovely!
What a nice looking cake! Blueberries aren't in season yet here but I got some beautiful ones from California. This cake was a big winner.
Thanks so much for baking along with me this week. This is a delightful cake. The only blueberries we get in Utah are from the market. I would love to taste fresh just picked berries. Now our raspberries are out of this world. I bet this cake would be good with raspberries or blackberries.
So many possibilities. Have a great day.
How did you manage to keep your blueberries from sinking? The cake looks gorgeous!
I can't wait to pick blueberries too :)
Oooh, so pretty! It looks absolutely perfect! :)
Your cake looks wonderful! I couldn't see the berries in mine until I cut the cake. Nice job!
i totally agree! i keep expecting a dud since we're at the end but this certainly was not it! your cake looks great!
And I liked the sweet cake with a little tartness from the blue berries. Great little snack cake.
Looks great...and I will go blueberry picking with you, just say when, I love the stained fingertips from picking blueberries, makes people wonder what on earth you have been doing...tee hee. Congrats on the newest swim team member. Take it from me: it can be profitable! We didn't start out thinking we were going to get college paid for, we really didn't! :-) Swim hugs from us!
This was an end-of-the-book gem! Your cake looks lovely!
"Breakfast treat" is a perfect description for it!
